Elvis Costello & The Attractions: “Lipstick Vogue”
In the minutes just before a Stepfathers show on Friday nights at UCB, you may notice the song “Lipstick Vogue” playing. This is such a great track, so energetic, it’s amazing that this is a “deep cut” and was never a hit single, because I think it might be the best example of what people think of when they recall the early Elvis Costello of “Revenge & Guilt.”
Can I just set up an automatic re-blog of everything Connor posts?
The drums in this song, I love them so much. I could sleep on that drum track. A big rolling cushion of cool sound.
Also, some of the best bassing!
Oh man, we just got some rough mixes back of the album that Igloos and I recorded last month. We haven’t recorded any of the singing yet, but mercy, this is going to be one of the best things I did. This is one of my favorite moments, where I think it can really be said that a little bit of sloppiness makes it sound more fun and human than if it were perfect. I may just tease other little clips like this in the weeks and months ahead as we get closer to completion.
This is going to be a blog where I make (and solicit you to make) the least desirable song parodies.
Today, it’s a parody of “Mr. Bojangles” but it’s about Bo Jackson.
Yep, so I snagged songparodies.tumblr.com, and this is what’s going to happen there.
For Girardi’s Frozen Yogurt Corresponses and Girardi’s Frozen Yogurt Correspondences Only
I’m trying to teach myself how to use Photoshop and made this junk based off of Joe Wengert’s super hilarious “Girardi’s Frozen Yogurt” video, which you should be watching right now.
I wasn’t exactly finished with some of the textures, and it could use a few more elves but I can’t make it stop saying that “Layers are Locked” and I don’t know what that means. Help me out, internet.
This should have more than 3 notes… I don’t think it made it to the NYC tumblr circle.
As yoozh, we like to throw some free music at you when there’s an Igloos show coming up. (Like the one Friday April 1 at Trash Bar!)
Currently on the menu for free downloads at igloos.bandcamp.com are the never-before-offered “I Guess I’m an Acrobat Now,” a better performance of “Beard of Bees” than we have previously been able to offer, and the old standby, “You’re Foxy Or You’re Fucked.” Enjoy!
